Our Principles

The driving principle of the café is to provide a community hub where people have the opportunity to help through volunteering seek to help improve their quality of life, or simply enjoy good food and drink in a welcoming bright environment. Volunteers will be supported to make sure they enjoy their involvement and we particularly help those with additional needs. We have established community partnerships with groups and organisations in the village and we will donate surplus funds to support local groups.

The Legacy of Molly Lewis

Molly Lewis was the driving force of the Lewis family, developing the fish and chip shop and the newsagents in the village in the 1970’s. She was committed to supporting the community and was well respected in the community.

Following Molly’s passing, and the closure of the Lewis’s Newsagents, the concept of turning the vacant premises into a community café was floated with her family, who agreed to support the venture. We established a Community Interest Company to drive the development of proposals to convert the property into a café. Following a successful grant funding campaign work started on the former Newsagents’ property in November 2019 and was completed in February 2020.
